It has been an unusually chilly and wet winter this year here in Greece, including several snowfalls. Snow that actually sticks on the ground in quite rare here but it happened at least twice in the first ten days of the year. If you don’t have to drive, it’s rather nice and the kids absolutely had a ball with it. In order to find enough snow to actually make snowmen, throw snowballs, and play in, you had to go up to one of the mountains that ring Athens, which many families did.
Mount Penteli, which overlooks Athens from the north, in its snow-covered glory in early January.
